Today Year 4 had an exciting workshop with Atomic Tom.
We started talking about food chains. We played a game where we took on the roles of primary and secondary consumers and predators. The primary consumers had to collect the “energy” from the producers on the floor. The secondary consumers then took that energy by “eating” them. They themselves were then eaten by the predators who gained all the energy.
Can a predator be eaten? Why?
What is at the bottom of the food chain? Where does it get its energy from?
We then did a really gross experiment where we inspected owl pellets. We had to look and see what was in them to work out what the owl had eaten.
What is an owl pellet?
