A MASSIVE well done to the Simon de Senlis netball team who played their first ever fixture this afternoon against Standens Barn.
After taking the lead in the 1st quarter thanks to a breakaway goal from Molly Nicholls, Simon de Senlis faced a 4-goal bombardment in the 2nd, putting Standens Barn seemingly out of sight…
However, a mighty rally from the girls in the 3rd period saw them claw it back to 4-3 thanks to the sharpshooting of Annabelle Lovell and Molly again, with great support play from Ayisha and Lucy. After three golden opportunities to equalise went begging, the visitors stole a crucial goal at the whistle to go in 5-3 ahead.
The tenacity of Bown, Levy and Ross could summon little more from their reserves and despite shedding blood for the cause, our young ladies had nothing more to give. Two quick goals in the final quarter, in spite of gallant defending from Teri Walter, finally broke their spirit as Standens Barn ran out 3-7 winners.
Did the score flatter the visitors…probably
Were we magnificent…undoubtedly!
The school is very proud of you all…the future is bright!
